This study refers to possible machinery for the management of hazardous wastes and for controlling and preventing illegal traffic in hazardous wastes in Latin America and the Caribbean. It proposes ways for countries of the region to cooperate with ECLAC in implementing the activities called for in the United Nations General Assembly resolution 44/226, and analyses the problems involved in strengthening the overall institutional capacity for managing toxic and dangerous products and wastes.
