This document provides an independent and objective appraisal of the situation following the natural disaster in Ecuador together with repercussions on the population affected as well as the performances of the national economy. The document gives a description of the disaster and its overall effect, an assessment of the damage which includes social and economic infrastructure, productive sectors. The need for co-operation from the international community is stressed and the fields of action they should undertake, especially with regards to financial and technical co-operations, are outlined.
