The document seeks to strengthen position of women involved in agriculture and so preserve a viable economic base for Caribbean countries. Three communities were selected based on specific criteria. The study concludes that women make a significant but invisible contribution to the Dominican economy. This was mainly through production and not at the policy level. Duration of women's involvement with agriculture was also significant. The study recommends a national survey on women in agriculture as well as a national register of female farmers.
