Defines the word caribbean and examines areas of possible cooperation. The paper points out the similar approaches adopted by sub-regional groupings to the problem of economic under-development and suggests that cooperation may be a powerful tool for resolving problems. Financing development, trade and international affairs are seen as prime areas for cooperation. Technology acquisition and development, disaster preparedness, energy and environmental issues and participation on international bodies are also suggested as possibilities.
