The objectives of the World Employment Programme is to assist member states to formulate policies and draw up and implement plans of action to achieve productive employment for the majority of the population. In 1990, the Regional Employment Programme for Latin America and the Caribbean (PREALC) established a Caribbean focal point which has focused on activities in the areas of policy formulation, measuring the social impact of socio-economic structural change and review of institutional mechanisms for employment and manpower planning.
