Examines results of a census, covering fishers and fishing communities within Dominica, that informs on the status of various components and inter-relationships within the fishing industry. Highlights perspectives of fisher folk, fish vendors, middlemen, part-time and full-time fishers and other investors on their role within the sector and identifies concerns in relation to government's role, subsidies, boat registration and fisheries management and governance. Informs on the type and qualities of fishing gear used, type and number of fishing boats, range of outboard engines, methods of propulsion, the extent to which Fish Aggregating Devices (EAD's), impacts the industry and the social and economic value of the fishing industry in Dominica. Basic demographic information on the fishing industry for use in fisheries management is also provided.
