The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) taskforce on sport meeting held in Jamaica, Sept 22-24, 2005 convened regional stakeholders to address critical issues in Caribbean sports development focusing on regional cooperation, the meeting aimed to enhance infrastructure, increase participation, and establish a framework for using sports as a tool for social development, health and economic growth. Key themes included talent development, integrating sports into education, creating a regional sports policy and mobilizing resources outcomes included agreement on action steps for unified regional development and recommendations for a regional sports commission. The meeting emphasized collaboration among governments, sporting bodies, and the private sector to maximize the potential of Caribbean sports. |
