The author's caution regarding the need for further research notwithstanding, her thesis on the manipulation of Amerindian 'difference' warrants full attention. Particulary revealing are her observations about specialised (and legalised) discrimination against Ameriandian women's self determination in the conduct of their personal, business and civil affairs and of the function of such methods as a vehicle to achieve Amerindian assimilation ER -
