Its objectives were to provide an overview of the global trends in capital markets, to examine issues related to the management of financial institutions in the region, to provide a forum for exchange of ideas of the region's financial sector and to provide a training opportunity for regional persons to acquire traditional skills. Presentations included an overview of development, including a review of widespread reforms in macroeconomic and trade policy and exploration of rapid institutional development experienced by Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago. Additional presentations included the role of financial institutions in the development of capital, the management of banks and other financial institutions, the supervision of financial institutions among others
