520 _a Agricultural policies, international demand for agricultural products and prices have significant effects on the health of populations in both developed and developing countries. They may influence life-style directly or interact with it and, in so doing, have a beneficial or harmful influence on the health of certain segments of the population. Although many of the relationships between agriculture and health discussed in this book are well documented, various conceptual, administrative and political constraints have limited efforts to modify agricultural policies to improve the health of populations. This text, identifies possible areas for action so that personnel from different section can initiate a dialogue and define their respective roles and options, it also aims to stimulate research into the analysis of agriculture health linkages in different settings.
