520			_aA survey carried out in support of proposal for a pilot project to promote the development of computer-based communications in the Caribbean. The objectives were assessment of risers' needs and requirements for the above, passess the capability of the current telecommunications infrastructure, to identify suitable pilot networks and institutions and to propose policy guidelines. Questionnaires were mailed to potential users and to data base suppliers. A number of likely participants were identified amongst these suppliers. The existing telecommunication system is discussed in detail.
